Lord Ganesha

श्री गणेश Lord Ganesha

Some intellectuals might have laughed at us when PM Shri Narendra Modi described first plastic surgery of the mankind, Lord Ganesha, joining lower body of a man with a head of elephant by the first plastic surgeon Lord Shiva! But Lord Ganesha is one of the most important Deities in India. All prayers, important undertakings, religious ceremonies, dance, music, art start with a prayer of Ganesha in Hinduism. He is the Lord of Wisdom, knowledge and new beginnings.

Hinduism has preached knowledge through symbolic stories. The story of Ganesha has been explained differently.

The direct story you all know about creation of Ganesha by Mother Parvati to guard her door when she was taking bath, arrival of Lord Shiva, Ganesha stopped him at door, angry Shiva beheaded him with Trishula. Later when came to know that he had killed his son, replaced original head with that of an elephant. And this way Lord Ganesha was reborn.

The head is our Ego, need to be beheaded. Ego can be removed by Trishul (three treatments), balancing Satva, Rajas and Tamas in the body so that one balance in behaviour. His eyes of an elephant is a symbol of looking at the smallest things. His large ears is a symbol of meaningful listening. His long trunk is symbolic of smelling unforseen events from distance. His big belly (lambodar) is a symbol of generosity to accept all. And his intellect cleverness is a symbol of right advice and decisions. His vehicle mouse is a symbol of keeping impediment at his feet.

Gananadhi ish, iti Ganesha, the Lord of Ganas (group). Ganesha is also called Vinayaka. A leader of a Family, Group, Village, Block, District, State, Country or World is a right leader if he possesses all these characteristics of Lord Ganesha; he can grants success, prosperity and protection against adversity to his unit/group/area. Thereafter only, he and the area under him will possess Buddhi (intellect) Riddhi (prosperity) and Siddhi (achievements-power), symbolically called wives of Ganesha. And the fruits; ksema (prosperity)/ Labha (profit) and Subha (auspicious), the sons of Shri Ganesha.

In Kaliyuga, some leaders possess adverse characteristics called nuisance and therefore people pay them for removing obstacles or preventing them to become obstacles. It is better to pray them first to avoid obstacles.

Hope all leaders (small of big) in the world will follow Lord Ganesha in positive spirit to make the life of people, free from obstacles.
