why freedom on 15.8.47

Was it so simple that 15/8 was a lucky date for Lord Mountbatten as on this day of 1945, Japanese surrendered to him in the World War II; therefore Lord Mountbatten declared 15/8/47 as India's Independence Day?

He came to India on 12/2/47 and left on 21/6/48. With his stay of 16 months in office in India he became a change agent, changing the History and Geography of India. He came with a mandate of transferring powers to Indians by June 1948. He was given extra freedom of decision making of his choice to resolve turmoil in India. He and his assist (Chief of the Staff) Lord

Ismay assessed the situation and came to a conclusion that the situation in India was dire, heading for civil war; India was a ship on fire in mid ocean with ammunition in her hold. Finally, he succeeded in dividing India into India & Pakistan through Hobson's Choice, 'take it or leave it'.

On other side, our leaders were tired off long freedom fight. Ganghi (78), Sardar (72) and Jinnah (71) were ageing old. Nehru tested the fruits of power. Britishers were in search of safety and respectful departure with diplomatic divide to keep India less powerful on world map.

Jinnah was suffering from a Cronic Cariating Pulmonary Tuberculosis. It was diagnosed by his physician Dr. J.A.L Patel, in June 1946. Jinnah who lost face because of failure of Muslim League

Government in Bengal to save lives of thousands in the famine of 1943, suddenly gain strength in 1944 with 19 days (9-27 September 44) visit of Gandhi to his house in Mumbai for negotiating freedom solutions. This has put Jinnah back on scene with an equal partner on the table of negotiations. He grabbed the opportunity and executed Direct Action Day on 16/8/46, put India on a fire of communal violence and heading for Civil War.

It is said that if Lord Mountbatten, Gandhi, Nehru, or Sardar had been known in April 1947 of secret of Jinnah disease, the division threatening India might have been avoided. Records say that the secret was so well kept that even the British Secret Service (BSS) were entirely unaware of it. It is impossible to accept that Mountbatten and BSS were unaware of his illness. The treatment drug for tuberculosis, streptomycin was not available freely. it cannot go unnoticed by any of the whites. A tuberculosis patient can be recognised with his uneasiness in any of the meetings lasting an hour.

The way Jinnah was covering his thin body with three piece suit, Mountbatten, Nehru and Sardar could have looked at him from the angle of his illness.

After April 1947 consultation amongst the parties and finalising 3rd June Plan of Partition, the declaration of 15/8/47 as date for independence of India-Pakistan in a press conference of 4/7/47 while replying a journalist, Mountbatten surprised all. It was just only 73 days remained. Drawing borders between two countries and dividing properties on 80:20 in just 73 days was a herculean task.

The date was not discussed at all with Congress. But he might have discussed it in private with Jinnah as Jinnah was on death sentence of tuberculosis. Jinnah knew that his end is nearby.

Ramadan was starting on 19/7/47. 15/8/47 was Friday, the last Friday of Ramadan. Jinnah (and Britishers) wanted to give a gift to his Muslims a Nation Pakistan (Land of Pure) taken away from Indian freedom fighters on religious divide. With his non compromising nature, continuous persuasion of goal, support of Muslim community and Britishers he succeeded in getting Pakistan.

But his dream was not realised fully due to diplomatic intervention by Nehru and Sardar. Jinnah wanted Pakistan with undivided Punjab, undivided Bengal, whole of Kashmir and a highway road link between West and East Pakistan. In fact he was claiming a bigger nation Pakistan with Muslims in majority and Hindus in minority and leaving India with Hindus majority and Muslims minority to maintain balance of power in the subcontinent.

Nehru tried to keep Mountbatten on his side by using Lady Mountbatten as a bridge between him and Mountbatten with his Platonic Love Diplomacy. Simultaneously, with good behaviour and offering Governor General post of Independent India, Nehru and Sardar won the confidence of Mountbatten.

This can be seen in some of the actions: division of Bengal and Punjab; accession of Princely States to India; Radcliffe drawing a border line keeping Gurudaspur in India giving a land approach to Srinagar-Kashmir (the land route was used for sending tanks and infantry to Srinagar in 1947 war); Lord Mountbatten, Lord Ismay and VPK Menon's visits to Srinagar; Gandhi's 2 days visit (stayed in Raja's palace) to Raja Harisingh in end of July 1947 followed by change of PM of Kashmir (Ram Chander Kak was replaced by Janak Singh, JS was replaced by Mehr Chand Mahajan), etc. can be noted in favour of the argument. However, it is also to note that Nehru the PM was not permitted by the GG Mountbatten to visit Kashmir.

Lord Mountbatten tried to satisfy all the parties (British, Congress, Muslim League) and resolve maximum possible problems of the subcontinent. He fullfilled the dream of Congress for India's

Independence (though divided), dream of Jinnah for Pakistan and also wish of Britishers to keep the two new nations under check so that they may not be a threat to supremacy of White Power over the world.

He returned England with winning confidence of Indians and giving a Ramadan Gift of Pakistan to Jinnah and his Muslims. Freedom came in the month of Ramadan, a blessed month for Muslims, during which the gates of heaven are open. The Last Friday of Ramadan (Jum'a-tul-widda) fall with India, a day of charity and wishing for others. Freedom at Midnight on 14-15 August was achieved on a Laylatul -Qad'r (Night of Power), a night (one of the last 10 nights of Ramadan) which is better than a thousand month. And Pakistan, because of it demand for creation of Pakistan 24 hours prior to India, left Pakistan with last Thursday, 27 Ramadan 1366 AH.

who gained the most

Gandhi, Nehru and Sardar Patel spent approximately 7, 9 and 5 years in prison respectively, during the freedom struggle following a path of "Passive Resistance and Non Violence".

Nehru wrote, "The years I have spent in prison, sitting alone, wrapped in my thoughts, how many seasons I have seen gone by ... How many moons I have watched wax and wane ....How many yesterdays of my youth lie buried here, and sometimes I see the ghosts of these dead yesterdays rise up, bringing poignant memories, whispering to me ! Was it worthwhile?"

Jinnah spent zero days in prison followed "Constitutional Approach" to politics except direct action day (16/8/46) followed by wide spread communal riots in the country.

Who gained the most? The former got India and the latter Pakistan. Both used the popular support for achieving their goals but finally ended up in division of territories and people based on religion.

Some interpreted it as a fight between two sects of Muslims: the followers of Darashikoh (religious liberal, coexistence) and Aurangzeb (conservative, religious intolerance), the two sons of Emperor Shahjahan. The former continued in India and the latter left with Pakistan!

What is important; gain of territory or gain of peaceful coexistence? Who become the ultimate winner? Army controlled Pakistan or Democratic India?

We salute our leaders of freedom struggle for giving us "Independent India" with their wisdoms and sacrifices.

what happened to those who demanded partition of India

What happened to those who demanded Partition of India?

British, few in numbers, ruled over Hindustan with "Divide and Rule" policy. Congress lead the freedom struggle demanding from Dominion Status to "Quit India", the complete freedom.

Jinnah (Muslim League) took a stand of "Divide and Quit".

Finally what happened ? On the eve of the sunset of British Empire, 0.5 to 1 million people were massacred, 1.5 million people were uprooted and compelled to migrate. Their migration during monsoon and floods, initial days hardships of life living in relief camps, settlement in forests and on waste lands; took them decades to come up to the level from where they were uprooted. Many did gain in the process; the landless labourers became land holders.

Unity compromise formula between Hindu and Muslim signed by Lok Manya Tilak and Muhmmad Ali Jinnah as Lucknow Pact in 1916 being president of Congress and Muslim League respectively, accepted the principles of separate electorate and quantum of representation for Muslims. Jinnah was a member of Congress too as membership of multi organisations was not an important issue those days. Jinnah left Congress in 1920 when his proposal of use of "constitutional means for self government" was overpowered by Gandhi's " satyagraha, non cooperation movement". A great surprise of the history that Gandhi favoured Khilafat (religious) movement and Jinnah opposed It.

Meanwhile, Jinnah was busy with his 24 years younger to him wife Ratan(Mariam) (d/o Sir Dinshaw Patit), and a daughter Dina, born on 15/8/19; spent more than a decade practicing Law mostly in England.

There were many who were in demand of separate State for Muslims but the major can be listed as Muhmmad Iqbal, Chaudhary Rehmat Ali, Husain Saheed Suhrawardy, Liakat Ali Khan and the Chief Muhmmad Ali Jinnah.

Sir Muhammad (Allama) Iqbal (Kashmiri), Poet of the East, Muslim Philosopher, politician; and writer of song "सारेजहाँसेअच्छा, हिन्दुस्ताॅं हमारा" in 1905 when he was 28 years old; a grandson of a Kashmiri Pandit; became an advocate of separate Muslim State in Northwest India for Muslims to protect their culture and customs. He was major force convincing Jinnah to return India from exile in London and to take over charge of ML. Allama Iqbal, after giving great literature to the world and to Muslims, died on 21/4/1938 at 60 Y age, therefore, cannot be held responsible for massacre and uprooting of people in 1947. Government of Pakistan declared him "National Poet" and named many universities, buildings, roads, parks, etc., after him. He preferred Dari (Persian) to Urdu in his poetry.

Chaudhary Rehmat Ali (Gujjar Punjabi), an author of famous pamphlet of 28/1/1933, "Now or Never; Are We to Live or Perish Forever?"; the advocate of Separate Muslim State for Northwest Muslims and was a founder of name Pakstan [Punjab, Afghan Province (NWFP), Kashmir, Sindh and Balochistan). He offered names Banglistan for Bangal Muslims and Osmanistan for Muslims in South India. He lived most of his life in England. He returned to Pakistan in April 1948 and voiced his dissatisfaction with creation of smaller Pakistan. He was ordered to leave the country by the then PM, Liaquat Ali Khan. His belongings were confiscated, and he left empty handed for England in October 1948, and died on 12/2/1951, at Cambridge, UK.

Husain Saheed Suhrawardy (Bengoli), started his political career in Swaraj Party with Chitranjan Das landed in Muslim League in 1930. He mooted United Bengal proposal with Sharat Chandra Bose. Prime Minister of Bengal in British India, the major implementer of "Direct Action Day, 16/8/46", and was responsible for communal riots killing thousands Hindus in Bengal, was one of the culprits putting the nation on "civil war status", that finally compelled Congress to agree on partition of India. He became the fifth PM of Pakistan in 1956 and in one year before resignation, successfully achieved objectives of: promulgation of Constitution, rebuilding military with the help of USA, pro west foreign policy, establishment of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission to address power supply crisis in West Pakistan. His economic policy suspending National Finance Commission Programme and extending more help to East Pakistan finally ended with his resignation, losing confidence of the parliament. He died in Lebanon in 1963 due to cardiac arrest.

Liaquat Ali Khan (Punjabi), one of the founding fathers of Pakistan, the left hand of Jinnah was a major player of the partition. When Nehru offered five berths to Muslim League in the interim government of British India Empire, presuming that ML may not join, Liaquat Ali Khan joined the Government along with four other ML representatives. He being the Finance Minister became a major road blocker of government's smooth functioning. It was because of him locking the functions of the government, VP Menon and the ICS officers in Delhi were able to convince Sardar Patel and Nehru to accept the proposal of partition. After formation of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan became the first PM of Pakistan, and said to have uttering bad words for Jinnah in his last days. Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated at a political rally at "Company Garden" in Ravalpindi on 16/10/1951. The hired Afghan assassin was shot on the spot by the police and the motive of assassination was never been fully revealed.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Gujarati), the winner of the partition game, a grandson of a Gujarati Hindu Lohana, married a Parasi, had a habit of smoking cigars, drinking wine, eating pork (all against Islam code of conduct) and mixing his Shia and Sunni faith in Islam was accepted as a Leader of the movement demanding separate nation based on Islam Religion ! The reasons might be Jinnah's capabilities of game fixing with British and arguing with Congress on partition. He hit winning goal (bloodshed) against the strong team of Congress with the most popular Goal Keeper Mahatma Gandhi. Jinnah was suffering from tuberculosis. He wished to live in Mumbai, but partition placed him in Karachi and was moved to Quetta in his last days. When his health was completely deteriorated in Quetta due to tuberculosis, lungs cancer and pneumonia, he was shifted to Karachi by air on stretcher wearing 3 pieces suit on 11/9/48. His Limousine car was waiting at Karachi airport, but he was on stretcher therefore, transferred to ambulance. The ambulance broke down on road to city was replaced after an hour. It took two hours to reach to the Government House Karachi from the airport. 71 years old Jinnah died at 10.20 PM, same day. His life started from Karachi on 25/12/1876, ended in Karachi on 11/9/1948.

Nehru stated upon Jinnah's death, "How shall we judge him? I have been very angry with him often during the past years. But now there is no bitterness in my thought of him, only a great sadness for all that has been ... he succeeded in his quest and gained his objective, but at what a cost and with what a difference from what he had imagined."

Two Gujaratis Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (of Porbandar) and Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Muhammad Jinabhai Punjabhai Thakkar) (origin of Paneli, 50 Kms from Porbandar) met a tragic end of their life but became "Father of the Nation" for India and Pakistan respectively. Their photos are displayed in all government offices and many roads, buildings and programmes are named after them.

होनी होकर रही ।

Let three of us (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) live in harmony and rethink of "A Union of Hindustan" with free trade, common currency, cultural unity, allowing more marriages across, free movement of people, mutual trust and lowering defence budget. Thereafter no fight remains for Kashmir - Cricks - Picks.

Is this possible?

sardar sarovar mini niagra

Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam over flowing this year, since 10.15am, 18/7/13 is giving a mini Niagara feel to the tourists. A work order of construction given in 1987 getting fruits to its partner States. The scheme has passed through many challenges. But it was savior of the State providing drinking water to large number of villages (7800) and towns-cities (113). Its turbines are generating 1450 MW of electricity every day giving 57% to MP, 27% to Maharastra and 16% to Gujarat.

Many of you have contributed in the completion of this project. My salute to you. Now awaiting 30 hydraulic gates to be installed. Thereafter, it will take number 1 position in the State in terms of storage of water. And the view today will disappear.

Hurry up and visit the Overflow of Dam. A memory to deposit and an engineering wonders to praise.

Samscrit

We must appreciate the promotion of Samskrit language by western countries. But we must also accept that nearly 5 million students in Gujarat and approximately 90 million students in India study Samskrit as one of the subjects in 5th to 9th Standard.

What we miss is to canvass the importance of Samskrit. We believe that education is useful to earn our livelihood. As a result, the students and parents are chasing score cards. The merit list idea to get specific school/branch has compelled them to do tuitions and mug for many days and nights. The burden has been increasing year after year and finally the students think of dropping something from the load. The soft target is Samskrit that offers limited earning opportunities.

On one side India is considered as IT hub of the world, but Samskrit, the potential language for developing Artificial Intelligence in Computer has not been focused. Other languages have limitation to express different emotions with different words but Samskrit can. It helps in capturing correct meaning behind the usage of a specific word. That helps the computer world to increase the speed of automation, language translation and making the computer to think like human in future.

Currently, Computer programming languages i.e., c, c++, java, etc., are translated into assembly language and further translated into binary code (voltage 0, 1) that is understood by computer hardware. There is a possibility of direct translation of Samskrit based developed language into binary code. Its grammar can be easily translated to a form understandable by a computer.

If Samskrit has strength to develop artificial intelligence in a machine (computer), think of its power to develop human intelligence. Our Dev People Brahmins were intelligent because they have developed and used Samskrit. It is now a dream to see large population in India to understand Samskrit. Those who study also don’t understand. They simply translate some words and sentences from Samskit to mother language. The number games of power, social inequality and economic interests of individuals have spoiled the chances of its elegant growth in India.

Let us promote it by using some words of greetings, etc., in our daily life. Shri Gopalaswami

Sir, Shri CL Meena, Shri DN Pande, Shri Bhagyeash Jha can write some easy sentences in this group to use them in our daily life.

Private Hospitals

Hospitals are business units run by mostly non doctors. For doctors, patient is a customer. When one say business unit, profit/making money is a prime objective. Many are saved through hospitals but the vicious circles of tests, medicines, surgery, ventilators, etc suck money from the patients.

I had 2 bad experiences. My father died in 2001 in VS Hospital Ahmedabad due to negligancy of the doctors. He had angina pain and was kept under observation. But during night when he asked for a discharge to go home he was injected with sadistic drugs. When he wake up in the morning and asked for the discharge, the doze was repeated. My father went into coma and died same day in the afternoon at 3.15 pm. Injecting sadistic drugs to a heart patient whose pumping has gone down was a crime. If I didn't opt for hospital that day, he could have spent more years with us.

My mother following death of my father, became seriously ill. She was admitted in Shrey Hospital as ventilator facility was occupied at ICCU Civil Ahmedabad. She was conscious with ventilator support and recovering, but the doctor took it out for a while to experiment and she went into coma and couldn't return. We received her dead body and huge bill.

Private Hospitals have well planned exploitation package. Put the patient on ventilator support, conduct all types of tests every day or twice in a day, demand medicines worth Rs. 20-50000 a day, push out relatives when the nurse is injecting so that she uses mininum drugs and takes away rest in her 4 pockets shirt to deposit to the medical store within hospital for recycle, continue exploitation till emotional bonding of relatives have been exploited fully by spending all savings of life time and their capacity to borrow. Discharge the dead body with a huge bill.

Do asanas, yoga, walking, some exercises, eat suitable to body and live healthy as per the DNA model given at birth. No need to extend life beyond a point (unless genius brain like Stephen Hawking) as new body will be available once leave the old one, if desires not expired.

The lady in the story could have lived some more years till the tumour acted. All of us have tumours in our body at some locations, but one has to ignore till no life risks involved. If something has went wrong to the body by walking a wrong path, one has to just return from that life style and use the services of the doctor (auto repairing) set in the body by the God.

Shubham Bhavatu Kalyanam.

plugging ruppee with other currencies

Demand supply rule governs the price of any goods and services including currencies. It seems that our country has entered into a trap of USD driven world trade. We need more and more USD to pay bills of our imports and the supply earned through exports doesn't meet the demand. Once trapped in the vicious cycle of balance of trades and payments, difficult to come out. The simple answer to reduce dependencies of foreign goods and services.

The major area took away our foreign currencies are oil and gold. The GOI has some how controlled the imports of Gold, pull it down substantially but failed in oil markets. We the citizens are also responsible. All of us including youths prefer personal vehicle driven by petrol/diesel. With increase in population, number of bicycles would have gone up but in the name of growth bikes and cars are increasing. Public transports are not meeting needs. The way country observed fast for a day for supplying ration to our soldiers during Indo-Pak war in 1965, time has come to observe Oil Fast by the population. If that is done with Nationalism spirit, the people of India can become Game Changer. But will it happen? The political parties in power hunger stage are not ready to guide people unanimously.

Many more reasons to the problems, where economist including PM are failing, we the people of India to rise and support government through a Code of Conduct of Oil Fasting immediately.

How long will it take to teach Dharma to the people of India? Poor guys living in hardships follow superstitions and bowed down at temple and lost their lives.

Mala means Hills and bar means border

Mala means Hills and bar means border; Malabar a region between Western Ghats and Arabian Sea is one of the most beautiful sites of Kerala the God’s own country. Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Waynad are the major districts of the North Malabar region.

Rubber, Coconut and Paddy are the main crops of the area. Textile, Beedi, hand-weaving, plywood and coir represent important industries and cashew, cinnamon and pepper are other important cash crops.

Houses are beautiful here constructed with laterite blocks and with nice designs and good workmanship. All are painted with different bright Asian Paints emulsion colours i.e., Pink, Blue, Green, Yellow etc. It is the first dream of a Malayali to have a nicely designed good looking house in a plot size of 250sqm to 1500 sqm.

Tamilnadu is the major source of their supplies of Vegetables, fruits, eggs, chicken, milk, rice, tender coconuts, flowers, etc.

They local products and supplies are: edible oil, milk, ghee, some rice, fish, limited vegetables, etc.

It is the Gulf money which makes them happier. They supply semi-skilled construction workers, nurses and some engineers to the country and abroad.

Theyyam is the ancient ritualistic art form of the area. In this form of art, a man will be fabricated as God’s symbol. The weird head-hoods, colourful attires and body painting and dazing performances are amazing. Each type has a distinguishing headgear and costume made out of natural materials like coconut leaves and bark.

Kalaripayattu is a very famous martial art which was originated from North Malabar . It is known as indigenous martial art of India .

One can enjoy body massaz with Ayurvedic oil costing Rs. 4000 for a week is worth spending to rejuvenate the dieing chariot.

Vishu (on 15/4/11 this year) is celebrated as New Year, which is parallel to first Tamil month Chithirai.

Rajrajeshwara is the ancient and famous Shiva temple located at Taliparamba in Kannur district. Ladies are allowed to enter into the temple in the evening when Lord Shiva is with Parvati. The God is also under the female commands!

Males have to wear un-stitched Dhoti and keep the body uncovered above waist to enter into the most of the temples here.

The famous Muthanga wild life (elephants)sanctuary is located in Wayanad district of Malabar.

There are many castes and many religious sects in Hindus. There are sub-groups in Muslims and Christians. All live in harmony baring their castes, creeds and religion.

There is less poverty here. People go to temple and pray God to make them rich but apply to the Government to make them BPL!

Don’t miss visiting Malabar, if get a chance to visit in a lifetime.

Gold and Inflation

Two leaders are on war of words on Gold Economics. Whether buying Gold causes Inflation or worsen Current Account Deficit (CAD), a question to be answered by the economists. But Gold does form part of Indian households and play major role in Indian politics. Finance Minister late Morarji Desai was criticised for imposing a "Gold Control Order". It was called "bad old days". Present President HE Pranav Mukerji, restrained himself from increasing duties on import of Gold when he was FM. The present FM increased the duty to reduce Gold import to control CAD.

Gold is one of the most reliable hedges against inflation. Gold price went up to $ 1889 in 2011 has come down to $ 1252 today in the international market. But in India price of Gold reached around ₹30000 in 2011 and the same now. The depreciation of Gold price depreciated the ₹ and appreciated $ in last two years. Exporters have "सोना सोना" and importers have "रोना रोना". India inflation rate averaged 7.7% since 1969 to until date. For Government, it is changes in the "Wholesale Price Index (WPI)" for all commodities {Primary Articles (20.1%, Fuel and Power (14.9%), Manufactured Products (65%)}. Food articles accounts for 14.3% of Primary Articles. India don't follow method of "Current Price Index (CPI)" to measure inflation due to local constraints.

One of the major reasons of Inflation in India in last decade is inflow of money supply in the economy.

Money supply (growing faster than the rate of economic growth) and circulation increased in the economy in last decade due to: 6th pay commission salary rises of "Babus", debt relief to farmers, Mnrega wages payment, USA recession and investments by NRIs, growth of industries and services, growth of informal sector, urbanisation, elections and its expenditures by all, money withdrawals from foreign banks and it's investments in India, etc. have caused inflation. It has reduced purchasing power per unit of money.

For "common men" of India, the "current price" increases of essential goods and services matter more than economics understandings. The price difference between wholesale and retail is too big. The growers/producers don't get suitable price from the wholesale buyers and the common men pay very high price to the end seller. The inflation has inflamed the "middle men" the highest.

The quality of life is getting improved in India with increase and improvement in housing, water supply, power supply, communications, transport, health care, education, roads, etc. But it has increased the cost of living simultaneously. People are paying more on cost of goods and services and Governments (Centre and State) taxes. While maintaining pace of growth, the Governments are taxing more for meeting two ends of revenue and expenditures, for fulfilling desires of the people with available resources after paying non plan expenditures. A household wants his two ends of income and expenditure to meet fulfilling his family requirement of food, health, housing, education, water, electricity, transport, mobile, customary expenditures. He demands employment opportunities and basic minimum infrastructure of water supply, power supply, education, health care, roads and transport.

Whosoever has convinced the people more, will win; either the ruling: "did well and will do well", OR the opposition: "present ruling failed but they do well if powered". Time will tell. Immediate answer on 8 December 2013.

Garibi Hatao

Garibi Hatao was a very popular slogan of 1971 Parliamentary Elections in India. It was the time when ___ % people of the country were living below poverty line.

Many central and state government tried number of programmes and scheme to try to eradicate poverty line. The Planning Commission tried to define the poverty line. Initially it was income based poverty line, later expenditure based poverty line.

The survey was the key to determine the poverty line. In income based formula the key rest with the surveyed who will declare the income of the family. In expenditure based formula the key rest with the surveyer who will inquire about the items of expenditure and put a score value.

The governments will pick up suitable cut of score line to declare population below poverty line depending upon their resources and political needs. Therefore, the percentage of BPL is under the control of the score statistics.

A family can become APL with an Indira Awas if it is near to the cut of score line, whether it’s income has increased or not. With the advancement of technology and science, the quality of life of some people is increasing. Therefore the concept of BPL has gone up from filling up the belly to getting some basic needs and services.

The AIS officers have been provided with a servant facility with an honorarium of Rs. 1000/month.

Normally, a maid family lives in a servant quarter of the officer, do house work and get Rs. 1000/- a month as honorarium. It is difficult for the maid family to meet the two ends with this small money, therefore if not supported by other source of money; the family may live in BPL condition. The living condition of the family is worrisome of many maid servants. But simultaneously, wives of some of the officers do join the worry of the maids and try to resolve with their unique way.

Let me quote one such example. There is maid servant named Fuliben in Sector-20. There are four members in her family; husband, wife and two children. She was a maid servant of one of our IAS officer of the group (now retired). She was doing house work. The wife of our IAS officer was worrying about the growth of the maid family. She felt that if the maid is industrious and use her spare time in some other income earning trades, her family will have better quality of life.

Bharat Ratna a big contrast

Sachin, the most popular player of the Country has been given Bharat Ratna. He dedicated it to his mother and the mothers of India (MOMs) who sacrifice things for their children. "I am humbled and honoured to be given the Bharat Ratna. The award belongs to the entire nation", Sachin remarked Dr. CNR Rao, prominent scientist of chemistry, awarded honorary doctorates from 60 universities world wide, has also been given Bharat Ratna. He remarked "why the hell these idiots these politicians have given so little to us."

Dear Bureaucrats, major budgetary allocations are done by you. Why do you give less to scientists? Please reply the query of Dr. Rao. Have you scanned the performance of R&D people in the governments, in terms of their emoluments, perks, facilities v/v their output? Those in GoI may please explain.

Sachin Ratna seems soft, like Moon, a Brand Ambassador of India; Chintamani Nagesa Ramchandra Ratna is fiery, like Mars, contributed more on Mars Orbit Mission (MOM) !

One spoke through heart, another through brain.

A myth about Gujarati food.

Dear All,

When one say Gujarati food, a feeling of sweet test emerges. People feel that it is common to use sugar or jaggery in all food items by all the Gujarati. But it is a myth.

If one sees the population breakup of the State one can easily change the opinion. There are 286 castes in Gujarat. It has 15% ST, 7% SC, 10% Minorities, 52% OBC and approximately 2% Rajputs, 8% Patels, 2% Vaishnav-Jains, 3% Brahmins, 1% Soni, Kansara, Bhavsar, etc. 80% population is non vegetarian. They are not regular eater of non-veg food but they are not 100% vegetarian. Their food dominates with strong use of onion, garlic and red chilly.

They don’t use sugar and jaggery in their daily food. Only one item common with all Gujarati is Tuver Dal. All people use jiggery in Arhar Dal. There is ayurvedic reason. Arhar dal is testy but creates gas trouble after eating. Jaggery or sweet item controls gas. Arhar dal has all six juices and is a balance food. No other dal carries jaggery.

Maharaj is a famous word for cooks in Gujarat. Hotels, dhabas and circuit/guest houses were generally run by Maharajs. The Maharajs and Gujarati Arhar Dal are the pioneer in creating the sweet image of the State. Gujarati dal is sweet; Gujarati tongue is sweet. Sweet is so dominant in the culture that Gujarati identifies salt as ‘Mithu’.

Jainism was born in Bihar but seeded in Gujarat during the rule of Samrat Chadragupta Maurya (320 BC-298 BC). It was spread during the rule of King Kumarpal (1143-1172 AD) a devoted disciple of the great Jain polymath Acharya Hemachandra. Jainism has great influence on Gujarati people to follow vegetarianism and non-violence which is now a Brand of Gujarat. Mahatma Gandhi was a Sansari Sadhu of Jain philosophy.

If you are suffering from gastric problem, do take sweet items!!!

Shubham bhavatu kalyanam.

Sun

Dear All,

The following are the Lucky IAS officers in Gujarat Cadre; 21 out of 211 with exalted Sun in their horoscopes.

Let me wish them all, a Very Happy Birthday 2011 and a Very Happy Year 20011-12. They born between 14-15 Aril to 14-15 May.

The Sun was in fire sign Aries, and in exaltation. Aries is the first and powerful fiery sign. Its lord Mars and exalted Sun make the position strong and dominant.

As Sun represents the Government and power, they all will work near the power centre with power postings. They will expand their territories, demonstrate enthusiasm and courage. Some of them will reach to the highest post of the administration.

The Jupiter is changing the sign and entering into Aries on 8/5/2011. The period from May to October will give them further rise with awards, publicity, posting and spiritual development. However the effect may vary with the planetary positions in their birth chart.

Those who born between 14-15/8 to 14-15/9 have good Sun in its own sign Leo, will also grow better in Government. But those who born between 14-15/10 to 14-15/11 may not reach to the top of the government. The Sun in Libra, debilitation sign, make them winner of hearts of many but never give final dominance on others. They are balanced and do care for others.

NB: Shri AB Vajpayee

(25/12/24) became PM with exalted Saturn and Shri LK Advani (8/11/27) missed it with debilitated Sun.

Shubham Bhavatu Kalyanam.
